Project history

Linear Fresnel Reflector is a very promising technology for Concentrating Solar Power (CSP), provided that its relatively low cost is not counterbalanced by a too low global conversion efficiency. In order to take advantage of Linear Fresnel Reflector (LFR) benefits, which include a good compatibility with Direct Steam Generation (DSG), LFR500 project aims at developing a Fresnel collector for high-temperature superheated steam production, which can later significantly increase the thermodynamic conversion efficiency of the associated Rankine cycle. The project includes a global optimization of the system design, the development and testing of a new absorber coating and the erection and qualification of a full-scale prototype collector.
